Parts of Richard Leman's body were discovered inside a car at an abandoned Tyler Street property in Rangiora in 2023.

The Crown alleges Michael Scott Rodger shot Leman, then decapitated him after using methamphetamine.

Rodger denies having a gun that night, saying he didn't want to risk being caught driving with 14 grams of meth.

He admits being at the house where the Crown says the shooting happened.

Rodger will continue giving evidence today.
