ACC insists it never advised a Northland man with a severe bowel injury to use a bucket, at the side of the road

ACC insists it never advised a Northland man with a severe bowel injury to use a bucket, at the side of the road

The 75-year-old wants the agency to fund a vehicle with a toilet, so he can go hunting and fishing and see family and friends when he wants to.

In documents seen by the Herald on Sunday, ACC has offered him a suitable bucket...with a lid.

ACC says an assessor has discussed other options with the man including incontinence pads, medication, and a portable commode.

A spokesman says a vehicle of this type isn't the normal way to manage the man's toileting problem.
