Police are reassuring the public after the death of a young man in Lower Hutt

Police are reassuring the public after the death of a young man in Lower Hutt

A homicide investigation has begun after he was found assaulted at a Naenae house last night.

    He died at the scene.

Detective inspector Darrell Harpur says there's no organised crime or gang involvement in the death, and wouldn't comment on whether a weapon was used.

Harpur says they're in the very early stages of the investigation with the victim yet to be identified.

A post mortem will be carried out tomorrow.

A scene examination is continuing at the house in Burke Grove and a barrier has been erected where it backs on to Naenae Primary School.
