A 9-year-old's been caught behind the wheel driving a baby and two adults near Dunedin

A 9-year-old's been caught behind the wheel driving a baby and two adults near Dunedin

Police stopped the child driver at Bush Road Mosgiel, just before 6.30pm on Tuesday.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond says the adults were not intoxicated, but were encouraging the boy to drive to a address in the township of Mosgiel.

The boys father hasn't been charged, but has been issued with an infringement notice for the state of the vehicle, and referred to an alcohol and parenting course.

    Oranga Tamariki has been notified.
