    A man dived out of his car and into the water in an attempt to escape Police in Auckland's Orewa last night


    The 36-year-old was spotted allegedly dangerously driving on Marine Parade just before seven.

    After Police signalled for the car to stop, the driver took off in speed and ended up on the beach.

    After a 30 minute chase, Police and Orewa Surf Lifesaving Club worked together to get the man into custody.

    He'll appear in North Shore District Court today.
