    A woman has been arrested, after firefighters rescued two young children who were left alone in a smoke-logged home in Christchurch's Aranui


    The children were unharmed as they were found before the fire started, thanks to neighbours who called Police when they heard the smoke alarm go off on Tuesday night.

    The 35-year-old woman is facing two charges of ill-treatment of a child, resisting Police and possession of a cannabis plant.

    She will appear in Christchurch District Court at the end of the month.
