Four people have been arrested in a dramatic armed police pursuit spanning Auckland and Waikato

Police say a group of five men with weapons, including at least one firearm, allegedly stole a vehicle in Flat Bush about 5am.

The Eagle Helicopter noticed it driving in tandem with another stolen vehicle - and both were signalled to stop in Te Atatu before they diverted.

The Armed Offenders Squad eventually stopped one vehicle on North Shore's Glenfield Road and arrested a 20-year-old.

A 17-year-old and two 18-year-olds were then arrested in an armed traffic stop on Waikato's Tirau Road.
