An international New Zealand sportsman's been denied discharge without conviction for drink-driving

An international New Zealand sportsman's been denied discharge without conviction for drink-driving

Open Justice reports the Bay of Plenty man, who continues to have name suppression, was sentenced in the Tauranga District Court this week

The man in his 20s sought a discharge without conviction because of the impact a conviction could have on his ability to travel internationally.

Judge Justin Marinovich took into account his previous drink driving conviction and told the court the man rolled that dice, and got caught.

He's been fined $1,400 and disqualified from driving for six months.
