Nine months home detention for a 59-year-old man who defrauded migrants out of tens of thousands of dollars

New Zealand citizen Umesh Patel used false employment arrangements to support visa applications - charging applicants 10-to-30-thousand dollars.

Patel earlier pleaded guilty to 21 counts of providing false information to an immigration officer, and 16 counts of forgery.

It's unclear how many people gained residence through his scheme.
