Nobody wants to share a road with somebody who's not paying attention

Nobody wants to share a road with somebody who's not paying attention

Police are joining Vodafone in warning drivers to put away their phones when they're behind the wheel.

National road policing manager Superintendent Steve Greally says phones have become part of everyday life in just a few decades.

He says when people are driving they should put the phone in the glove box, give it to a friend or pull over to take the call.

Police in Auckland have launched a month-long operation ensuring drivers stay focused on the road.
