Auckland mayor Wayne Brown's communications boss has apologised for ordering offensive emails sent to councillors

Kate Gourdie has been outed as the person behind a release of the abusive emails ... described as repugnant.

The emails arrived in their inboxes shortly after a shambolic meeting on June 1, where Brown took aim at those who didn't support his sale of Auckland Airport shares.

One called on Brown to "kick there ass as that's where their brains are".

In a statement, Gourdie says she was unaware the emails contained insulting remarks and was sorry for the offence it had caused.
