New Zealand Food Safety is investigating after a Gisborne student received second degree burns trying to open a hot school lunch

The group will be on site today at the lunch heating facility.
It's widening its investigation to heating facilities used by the school lunch programme nationwide, to check that best practice is being carried out.
Lunch provider Compass has assured New Zealand Food Safety this type of meal won't be served again.
