Physical Education NZ is the latest group to raise alarm over the Government's curriculum refresh

It's written to Education Minister Erica Stanford, saying the current draft doesn't reflect the intent, evidence or depth of P.E as a learning area.

Similar concerns have already come from the Art History, Outdoor Education, and Home Economics sectors.

PENZ President Susannah Smith says they want to support and strengthen the refresh - not oppose it - but the content and framing in recent presentations doesn't align with evidence-based understandings.

She's asking to meet with Stanford and for the draft curriculum to be paused.
