Tertiary students can now claim back fees for their final year of study through Inland Revenue

First-time learners are eligible for up to 12-thousand dollars, covering their final year of study, or the last two years of work-based learning.
Payments are now available for courses completed from last year.
The policy replaced the first-year fees-free scheme scrapped in the 2024 Budget.
Inland Revenue says final-year fee relief is designed to encourage students to complete their qualifications and reduce the overall cost of tertiary study.
