A Dunedin partygoer believes an Otago student may have been trampled to death

A young woman is dead and two other people seriously injured after the incident involving a stampede in a Dundas Street flat known as The Manor last night.

Shoes and booze bottles, cans and boxes were strewn on the street outside.

A student, who doesn't want to be named, says he heard heaps of people falling down the stairs and landing on top of the woman.

The student says afterwards, he saw the woman lying on the ground being given CPR..

Police are investigating and Otago University is supporting the student's family and other students badly affected by the death.
