Confidence the Attendance Service will mitigate the need to fine parents for school truancy

Associate Education Minister David Seymour is weighing up prosecuting and fining more parents for chronic absence from school.
He's also looking into the service's effectiveness, which Labour gave 28-million-dollars to last year, to get regular attendance up to 70 percent.
PPTA acting president Chris Abercrombie says he hopes it'll pay dividends soon.
He says the goal is getting young people into school, understanding that attendance leads to achievement, which leads to future success.
