Dangerous shortfalls in online safety measures are exposing children to harmful content

Dangerous shortfalls in online safety measures are exposing children to harmful content

Online harm researchers have uncovered pornography, sexualised animal content and self harm videos on school-issued iPads at six Auckland primary schools.

The content was accessed despite the Government funding blocking technology Network for Learning.

Sex therapist Jo Robertson says the service blocks sites, but can't filter specific content.

She wants to see the Ministry of Education establish expectations and standards for the provider - because right now there aren't any.
