The Government's teaming up with private companies as it changes the free school lunches policy

Associate Education Minister David Seymour's confirmed the Government's working with more than 17 manufacturers and suppliers for meals - at three dollars a student.

Newstalk ZB's previously revealed teh menu includes hot and cold meals like butter chicken curry, pasta salad, and wraps.

Seymour says schools preparing their own meals will get four dollars a student - to pay for food preparation.

It's estimated the new programme will save 130 million dollars.
