A win for the little guy in a Disputes Tribunal case against Air New Zealand

A win for the little guy in a Disputes Tribunal case against Air New Zealand

    Air New Zealand
    Air New Zealand
The airline's been ordered to refund a customer for flights cancelled, when the airline chose to cut its own services because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tribunal referee Nicholas Blake has found the airline in breach of its own customer guarantee after it cancelled the customer's flights as Covid hit.

Consumer New Zealand head of research Jessica Wilson says in this case the tribunal's found the reason the man's flights were cancelled, were within the airline's control.

She says in that circumstance you're entitled to a refund .... rather than having to settle for a credit or being re-routed on a different flight.

Jessica Wilson says the situation is different if the flight is cancelled for reason's outside the airline's control.
