A Wellington City councillor says the council was to blame, for a clash between protesters and Christmas celebrations in central Wellington

A Wellington City councillor says the council was to blame, for a clash between protesters and Christmas celebrations in central Wellington

On Saturday hundreds of animal rights protestors marched down Lambton Quay - right through A Very Welly Christmas.

Protest organisers informed the council of their plans in August, but weren't asked to postpone the march until two days prior.

Councillor Nicola Young says it was the council's mistake.

She says it came down to a lack of communication between two wings of the council.
