A Bay of Plenty couple is gobsmacked after snagging 8.3-million-dollars in last week's Powerball

The man says he bought the lucky ticket on Saturday morning, but forgot about it until Monday when he was driving home and heard someone from Whakatane had won.

He says his heart was racing as he waited for his wife to come home to share the good news.

They plan to keep working and invest a large portion of the winnings.
