A skipper must pay reparations to victims of a boat crash that left a ferry master paralysed

James Thomson's pleaded guilty over his vessel colliding with the Blue Ferry, moments after it set off from Russell last year.

The ferry was severely damaged - and passengers were injured.

Thomson's been ordered to pay more than 130-thousand-dollars to the victims.
