Warnings for holidaymakers and travellers this long weekend - as wild weather across the country continues to cause issues and force many roads closed

Warnings for holidaymakers and travellers this long weekend - as wild weather across the country continues to cause issues and force many roads closed

Rain, snow and slips have shut multiple roads and state highways in the South Island.

Parts of State Highways 6 and 7 are shut, while access from Nelson and Blenheim to Westport remains closed.

NZTA says while the bad weather has eased and warnings have lifted, hazardous driving conditions remain across the South Island.

It warns drivers to take extra care.
