A warning to pet owners to remain vigilant about an SPCA impersonation scam

A warning to pet owners to remain vigilant about an SPCA impersonation scam

The SPCA says it's received reports of a caller pretending to be SPCA staff or veterinarians - and targeting owners who have lost their pets.

It says the scammers are requesting hundreds of dollars to retrieve the animals.

The SPCA says it never requests payment this way - when it finds lost animals.

Police urge anyone who receives one of these calls to not provide any banking information and to report the call to Netsafe.
