Auckland Transport is simplifying its fare system from today

Auckland Transport is simplifying its fare system from today

It will reduce the number of fare zones in the city from 14 to 9 by combining some of them.

For some it will mean a fare decrease, especially those who travel the longest distances.

However for others there will be an average increase of 15 to 25 cents per bus and train journey because of Auckland Transport's annual adjustment.

The changes do not affect AT's 50 dollar a week transport cap.
