Regional airline, SoundsAir, is taking off from Christchurch for the final time today

Regional airline, SoundsAir, is taking off from Christchurch for the final time today

It's the last time the Blenheim to Christchurch and Christchurch to Wanaka flights will operate, after stopping the services due to financial pressures - despite having good passenger numbers.

Christchurch Airport's tower and terminal was glowing orange last night, in honour of the nine years SoundsAir helped connect the regions.

Marlborough Mayor Nadine Taylor, says it's a disappointing loss.

She says there's often talk of the regions being the country's powerhouses, but to be that they need connectivity.
