A day for family and friends to farewell slain Auckland police officer Constable Matthew Hunt

A day for family and friends to farewell slain Auckland police officer Constable Matthew Hunt

The 28-year-old was shot multiple times during a routine traffic stop last month, in the West Auckland suburb of Massey, and died soon after.

The private service begins at Eden Park at 11 this morning, but will be live streamed with the family's blessing.

Police have been working with Hunt's mother Diane, to ensure he's farewelled as an officer, son, brother and friend.

A 24-year-old man yesterday pleaded not guilty to Constable Hunt's murder.

He and a 30-year-old woman, who's charged with being an accessory to murder, have a trial date set next July.
