Frustrated Aucklanders say they're waiting up to a year to sit practical driving tests, while NZTA is disputing the delays

An Auckland mum says when she and her son tried to book, the only appointments were for October next year.

She says people are having to go out of town to get appointments, but she isn't even able do that at the moment as there's nothing anywhere

But an NZTA spokesperson says tests can only be booked eight to 10 weeks in advance.

It says wait times have rapidly increased since the start of October when the fee to re-sit exams was scrapped.
