Opening a bank account remains a challenge for some

The Reserve Bank's published research which found a third of frontline staff were unable to open an account for someone often.

Reserve Bank Financial Inclusion Principal Adviser, Tom Bayliss, says Barriers identified include ID requirements, complex paperwork and a lack of branches.

He says in the modern world having a bank account is becoming more and more vital.
