To provincial rugby ... on Gold Sport ..

Yes, Canterbury have beaten their hosts Bay of Plenty to win their third straight NPC game ... the red and blacks led 14-7 at the break and now top the table from the Steamers.

The Tasman Mako have won their second game, beating the Northland Taniwha 28-14 in Whangarei.

In the women's Farah Palmer Cup, the Manawatu Cyclones beat the Bay of Plenty Volcanix 45-31 in Tauranga.

Meanwhile, Mid Canterbury have exacted revenge for last year's Meads Cup final defeat to Thames Valley ... they've beaten the Swamp Foxes 50-34 in Waihi, in the men's second-tier Heartland Championship opener.
