JoJo Siwa can't believe she and her then-girlfriend were living like "a married couple at 17 and 16"

The former 'Dance Moms' star - who turns 21 next month - looked back on a time during the COVID-19 pandemic when her then-partner, who is believed to be former girlfriend Kylie Prew, moved into the house she shared with her parents so they could avoid a long-distance relationship, and she thinks now it should have "never happened" because they were so young.

She reflected on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast: "As a 20 year old, I look at 16 year olds and I'm like, 'Oh my God. You are the age that my girlfriend was when she moved in to my house.

"Like, clearly U-Haul lesbians are a very real thing because I was one without even knowing what one was...

"We had a breakup. It is so hard and so great at the same time.

"Looking back, all of us are like, 'That should've never happened."

And the 'Karma' singer admitted even her mom regrets not taking a stand and not letting JoJo live with her girlfriend.

She added: "My mom says all the time, 'I should've never allowed my 16 year old's partner to live with us. That was not healthy for you, much less her and her family. Someone should've put their foot down.' But no one at the time felt it was right to."

JoJo has launched a radical image change with her new single 'Karma' and she explained she's always wanted to have a major overhaul after being inspired by Miley Cyrus' 'Bangerz' era in 2013.

She explained: "When I was eight is when Miley had her 'Bangerz' moment and I was like, 'All I want is to have that one day.' I want that.

"Honestly since I was 15 my whole inner circle has been talking about it and getting excited for it.

"And then two years ago is when I started writing new music. I got out of my Nickelodeon music contract."

The reality TV star doesn't care about the criticism she's faced for her single because she insisted she is an artist, not a singer.

She said: "I will never claim to be a singer but I will claim to be an artist. I am giving the world art and they might not like it, they might hate it, but they're enjoying it.

"And it's become a bit of a guilty pleasure for everyone."
