David and Victoria Beckham try to have at least two date nights a month

The couple - who celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary last month - appear happier than ever and friends revealed their secret to a happy marriage is putting time and effort into the relationship

A source told New! magazine: "This involves at least two date nights a month, a weekend away just the two of them, every six weeks and one big holiday a year - with no expense spared - where they both switch off their phones.

"The rules also include surprise romantic gestures like little presents, no work or kids talk when they go out, getting dressed up for each other and making an effort, and being open and honest when they're stressed or annoyed."

David, 49, and Victoria, 50 - who have four children together, Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 19 and 13-year-old Harper - are determined to continue to still make time for each other, despite their busy lives.

The insider added: "It may sound simple but she knows what makes their marriage stronger and over the past 25 years, they have been their happiest when they've put each other and their marriage first."

Meanwhile, Victoria recently gushed that she is more in love with David than ever.

She told Vogue Australia: "I love spending time with my husband. Let me tell you - David Beckham is very funny. I have a husband I very much am still in love with, possibly more than when we first met.

"I said to [David] last night - and the kids - after 25 years, I love your dad so much and I support him and continue to want him to be the best version of himself, and he does that for me. It's really important that the children see that."
