Richard Simmons suffered an "accidental death", according to coroner reports

The fitness instructor was found dead at his house in LA last month after emergency workers responded to a 911 call from his housekeeper and it has now been revealed that the TV star passed away from "complications" to do with heart disease, as well as a series of "recent falls" that occurred in the run up to his death

In a statement obtained by People on Wednesday (21.08.24), family rep Tom Estey, said: "This morning, Richard Simmons' brother Lenny, received a call from the LA Coroner's office. The Coroner informed Lenny that Richard's death was accidental due to complications from recent falls and heart disease as a contributing factor. The toxicology report was negative other than medication Richard had been prescribed. The family wishes to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support during this time of great loss."

Just days after his death, his family held a private ceremony and burial at the Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary

Lenny said: "Our beloved Dicky was laid to rest this morning surrounded by only family and closest friends. We pray for your continued love and support during this very difficult time."T

The former 'Late Show with David Letterman' star passed away just one day after his birthday and after suffering a fall in the bathroom on his big day, his housekeeper urged him to seek medical attention but he refused "because he just wanted to stay home" celebrating.

At the time, TMZ, noted that the housekeeper helped him back to bed but found him unresponsive on the floor the next morning.

He had reportedly been feeling dizzy before the fall.

Richard was pronounced dead at the scene.
