Gary Oldman would like a role in the 'Harry Potter' TV series

The 'Slow Horses' actor - who played Sirius Black in the original wizarding movie saga - hasn't been approached about starring in HBO's upcoming reboot but has his eye on a particular leading role

He told IndieWire: "No one's approached me...

"I would bet my money that they will get a whole new cast of people. Maybe in a few years, I could do Dumbledore."

Gary's character appeared in 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban', 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire', 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' - in which he was killed off - and a cameo in 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2' and he wishes he'd had more screen time.

He said: "I love Sirius. He wasn't in it enough. He turned up and then he went through the veil."

The weekend saw the 66-year-old star nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the Emmy Awards for his role as Jackson Lamb in 'Slow Horses', his first nod in three seasons, and he's delighted with the popularity of the Apple TV+ drama, which was also up for the coveted Outstanding Drama Series accolade.

He said: "It started off very much a show that was culturally very British. And it is, its humour. So I feel like it's sort of the little show that could that it's now reached a much wider audience.

"So to be recognized with nine nominations, it's a great thing, you know. We started four and a half years ago or whatever at the very height of the pandemic, I can't believe we shot the first season. In bubbles and being, you know, Covid tested every three days. And it's amazing that we got through it basically, so we're thrilled."
