Kendrick Lamar dominated the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards as he took home nine prizes

The 'Not Like Us' rapper - whose mega hit won in three categories on the night - was the big winner at Drai's Beachclub and Nightclub in Las Vegas in a ceremony which was held on October 8 but aired last night (15.10.24)

He was named hip hop artist of the year and lyricist of the year, while 'Not Like Us' was recognised in the song of the year, best hip hop video and impact track categories.

His track 'Like That' with Metro Boomin and Future won best collaboration as well as being honoured with the Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse prize, and Kendrick and Dave Free were named video director of the year.

Elsewhere, Nicki Minaj took home the hip hop album of the year gong for 'Pink Friday 2', Sexyy Red was named best breakthrough hip hop artist, and Future and Metro Boomin won best duo or group.

Missy Elliott won the best live performer prize, with The Alchemist winning double with producer of the year and DJ of the year trophies.

50 Cent was named hustler of the year, 'Club Shay Shay' secured best hip hop platform, and the UK's Ghetts won best international flow.

Travis Scott was also on hand to accept the I Am Hip Hop Award, while he opened up about how he has always had "this vision", even if people didn't recognise it.

He said in the acceptance speech: "I come from this generation where they considered us nowhere near hip-hop.

"Every day, I try to push the sound. Coming in as a producer, nobody knew what I was trying to do, but I always had this idea and I had this vision still to this day to take this sound and take things to the next level.

"I'm just so glad that we made it this far."

Travis - who admitted he sometimes feels like "people don't give a f***" about him - urged aspiring rappers and musicians to put in the work to achieve their dreams.

He added: "I come from Houston, Texas and we don't have a lot of billboards and a lot of big advertisements to try to get us on our way.

"I just want to let everybody know where you come from, it doesn't really matter. It's just what goes on in your brain can take you to the next level and beyond.

"With true focus, true drive, and real surroundings, you can go wherever the f*** you want to go."
