    Gracie Abrams loves "being alone"

The 25-year-old singer - who was born in Los Angeles - has revealed that she enjoys the anonymity that comes with living in New York City

Gracie told Nylon magazine: "Everything is more generative for me in New York. It feels way easier to be alone here. And I love being alone.

"I've definitely noticed a change [in people noticing me], and at the same time, my life day-to-day doesn't look different."

Gracie also suggested that she's surrounded by like-minded people in the Big Apple.

She shared: "I feel really lucky that 95 percent of my interactions with strangers are not with creepy dudes, for example, but young women or girls who are super emotional like I am and are able to express that. I appreciate that so much, and so I think that that is incredibly lucky."

Earlier this year, Gracie admitted that her songwriting process has changed since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The singer told Interview magazine: "The quarantine aspect didn't change the course of my social life much.

"But after the fact, when I got to experience touring for the first time, that was a form of exposure therapy that I actually loved leaning into, and it shocked me. It's definitely influenced my writing in every capacity - not only knowing the kind of music that I want to be performing and that I want to hear being screamed back at me, but also the way that I am with people."

Gracie has been able to find a much-needed escape from her own fame in recent times, too.

She said: "I don't really feel very engaged with my algorithm. I'm lucky that I don't get my own s*** on [social media].

"The videos that I interact with are about people that live in the middle of nowhere by themselves, or I get a lot of pregnancy announcements from strangers to their friends and family. I get a lot of wild animals and s***. So I don't feel like I'm seeing a lot of myself, which I like."
