Sean Ono Lennon has insisted that it is "not a burden" to have famous parents

The 49-year-old musician is the son of Beatles legend John Lennon - who was assassinated in 1980 at the age of 40 - and Yoko Ono and explained that it is actually a "great privilege" to have the connections that he does because it has enabled him to "give back" to the world through his art

He told People and other press at the 2025 Grammy Awards: "In terms of balancing and being the custodian of [my dad's] music and my own music, it's not a burden. It's honestly a great privilege for me.

"I just feel so lucky that I get to do good by my dad, you know, It seems like a privilege, as his son, to be able to give back. He gave the world so much, and he gave me so much, and I just feel really honored to be able to do justice by him if I can."

While Sean's father achieved groundbreaking success in the 1960s alongside Ringo Starr, George Harrison, and Sir Paul McCartney, he himself began releasing music in 1998 with the record 'Into The Sun'.

His second studio album 'Friendly Fire' followed in 2006, and on Friday 16 February he will release 'Asterisms', but also has plans to re-release one of his late father's projects.

He said: "Simon [Hilton, director] and I are working on the' One to One concert', which was John and Yoko's last concert in Madison Square Garden.

"We're working on repackaging that, remixing it, and we've got a whole film coming with it. It's super cool.

"They were all decked out in camouflage ... and they looked like wild radical leftists. It was really a cool show."
