Jimmy Kimmel has signed a contract extension to stay on air until 2027

The 58-year-old late night host has revealed his Jimmy Kimmel Live! deal - which was set to expire in May 2026 - has gained another year with ABC.

He simply wrote on Instagram: "I am pleased to announce another no-talent year!”
The announcement on Monday (08.12.25) came just two days after US President Donald Trump took another swipe at the TV star over the weekend.
Speaking at the 48th Kennedy Center Honors Medallion Reception, Trump said: "I've watched some of the people that host, Jimmy Kimmel was horrible. If I can't beat out Jimmy Kimmel in terms of talent then I don't think I should be President."
Kimmel hasn't actually hosted the prestigious ceremony before, although he did pay tribute to David Letterman in 2012.
The pair previously clashed after Trump gloated when Jimmy Kimmel Live! was taken off air in September following remarks the host had made about the killing of Charlie Kirk.
Trump posted on his Truth Social platform at the time: "Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED.
"Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible."
However, less than a week later, ABC confirmed the return of the programme, which prompted the president to ask why they wanted "someone back who does so poorly, who’s not funny, and who puts the Network in jeopardy by playing 99 per cent positive Democrat GARBAGE".
Last month, Kimmel told the world leader: "I'll go when you go."
Back in October, Jimmy admitted he hadn't decided if he would be signing an extension with ABC.
He told Bloomberg: “I often answer that question, and then I do the opposite of what I said.
"I previously said, ‘This is going to be like my last one,’ the last three contracts. So I’ve learned not to say anything anymore, because it upsets my staff.
"It’s best that when I make a decision, I will make that decision.”
