Chad Michael Murray knew he "liked girls" after seeing Jamie Lee Curtis in Trading Places

The 44-year-old actor thought the then-21-year-old Hollywood actress was hot as prostitute Ophelia in the 1983 comedy-drama movie.

Appearing on the latest episode of the Like a Farmer podcast, Chad recalled to host Pat Spinosa: "I was watching Trading Places with my dad, and she's a hooker in that. And I think that was when I was like, 'Oh, nope. I like girls.' That was one of those moments. I was like, 'Jamie Lee. All right.'

Chad then joked: "I was like, 'What is that? I feel something.'

The star was aged 19 when he got the opportunity to work alongside Jamie Lee, 67, in the 2003 movie Freaky Friday - which sees Anna Coleman (Lindsay Lohan) and her mom Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee) switch bodies and navigate life in each other's shoes.

And Chad - who portrayed Jake Austin, the ex-boyfriend of Anna, in the Disney family-comedy film - relished the experience of working with Jamie Lee.

He gushed: "She's awesome. She was the first person that I ever got to have the opportunity to work with where I was like, 'OK, this is like an icon.'"

Chad added that Jamie Lee was born into "Hollywood royalty" because her late parents, Psycho icon Janet Leigh, and Spartacus' Tony Curtis were esteemed actors.

He continued: "[Jamie Lee] was born in it, raised in it, continued to do it. Lived up to the expectations and goes, and has Halloween and True Lies, and Trading Places, and all these unbelievable films."

Chad, Lindsay, 39, and Jamie Lee got to reprise their roles of Jake, Anna, and Tess Coleman, respectively, in 2025's Freakier Friday.

Chad agreed with Pat that Jamie Lee looked better as the years went on, and Chad noted that is why Jake had "such an affinity" for her character in the movie - in which Tess and Anna find themselves swapping bodies once again - but the chaos spreads to other family members.

In March 2022, Jamie Lee admitted she felt "embarrassed" appearing topless in Trading Places.

Recalling her experience of that moment in the John Landis-directed movie, the Golden Globe winner told People: "I was 21 years old, and the part required Ophelia to take off her dress.

"Did I like doing it? No. Did I feel embarrassed that I was doing it? Yes. Did I look OK? Yeah. Did I know what I was doing? Yeah. Did I like it? No. Was I doing it because it was the job? Yes."

Jamie Lee - who has been married to Spinal Tap actor Christopher Guest, 77, since 1984, and adopted daughters Annie, 39, and Ruby, 29, with him in 1986 and 1996, respectively - added: "I wouldn't do it today, it's the last thing in the world I would do now.

"I also am married for 37 years, I wasn't married then. I'm a mother of children. Absolutely not."

Jamie Lee starred alongside Dan Aykroyd, 73, and Eddie Murphy, 64, in Trading Places - which followed stockbroker Louis Winthorpe III (Dan) and Billy Ray Valentine (Eddie), who is down on his luck, swapping positions.
