Michael Douglas listens to 'Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah' when he needs cheering up

The 70-year-old actor can't help but raise a smile when he listens to the 1946 tune, which was sung by James Baskett on Disney animated movie 'Song of the South', and likes to put it on to turn his frown upside down.

Speaking about the song that makes him the most happy, he told MixRadio: "It always makes me smile especially during the muddy season."

Michael is not the only star who turns to music to perk himself up on a dull day as several other big names have also revealed their choices to celebrate the United Nation's International Day of Happiness today (20.03.15), including Ed Sheeran, who loves to listen to Destiny's Child's 'Independent Woman'.

Charli XCX enjoys cranking up the volume on Spice Girls' 'Say You'll Be There' to put her in a good mood, while John Legend prefers 'Got To Give It Up' by Marvin Gaye.

When asked why, he said: "The beat is so infectious and fun."

Fellow singer Cody Simpson is behind the #HappySoundsLike campaign to raise awareness of the UN's International Day of Happiness - which originated in 2012 - and hopes people will share their favourite tracks.

He said: “I am really pleased to be part of such an amazing campaign to raise awareness of International Day of Happiness.

"I hope everyone gets behind the day and shares the track that makes them happiest!

"I will be choosing five tracks the general public suggest to be part of the official playlist, #HappySoundsLike, launching on Friday March 20 for you to all listen to”.
