Whoopi Goldberg has defended Dolly Parton from trolls urging her to dress her age

The 68-year-old star has responded after people criticised the cheerleader outfit she wore while performing at the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Kickoff Halftime Show during the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game last week

Speaking on 'The View' this week, the host said: "Apparently, my turkey wasn't the only thing online that people were hating.

"Seventy-seven-year-old superstar Dolly Parton stole the show on Thanksgiving at the Cowboys/Commanders game dressed as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, but some critics told her to act her age.

    "Bite me."

The '9 to 5' hitmaker's outfit saw her wear white shorts and matching vest over a blue crop top, with a mesh catsuit covering her mdriff and legs, while she rounded everything off with a crystal star over her belly button.

Whoopi's co-host Sunny Hostin added: "If I looked like that in one of them Cowboy things, I might have everything out."

Meanwhile, Dolly recently revealed she refuses to send text messages because she doesn't want to talk to everybody "that wants to talk to [her]".

During an appearance on 'The Drew Barrymore Show', Dolly explained: "I always say I'm a low-tech girl in a high-tech world, but I surround myself with all these people that are into this high-tech world. I don't want to talk to everybody that wants to talk to me. I don't text because I don't want to have to answer.

"If somebody calls me, I'll answer if I want to talk to them or I'll call them back when I can. Otherwise, I got too much to think about to clutter my mind up with everything else. I'm certainly not a stupid person.

"I could learn it if I wanted to, but I'd rather just have my fax machine, call in my creative stuff to my crew, and I've got the best crew in the world."
