Bill Murray gave out his email address and asked fans to send him a message in an advert which aired during the Super Bowl

The 'Lost In Translation' actor filmed a spot for Yahoo which was broadcast during the big game on Sunday night (09.02.25) and during the commercial he is seen looking in a mirror and seeing the reflection of a dog

He said: "Have you ever looked in the mirror and not seen yourself?. I don't think I need professional help, but a skilled amateur, maybe? Little help?"

Bill then holds up a sign declaring his email address to be "Billhimself@yahoo.com" - inviting fans to send him an email about his dog/mirror problem.

When an email is sent, respondents were treated to a bizarre story from Bill.

The reply stated: "Thanks for emailing. Sure you're thinking, what's this Murray doing in the middle of the game? Is he broke now? The usual gambling problems? Ugly divorce?

"Understandable reaction but this is not purely a big money sell out. There's also a dog in my mirror! A real dog where my face should be and always has been. So kindly absorb that horror, just walk one mile in my paws."

He went on to tell the story of what happened when he saw the vision of a dog in the mirror, revealing he asked a neighbourhood vet for help and asked fans to send another email if they wanted to know where the vet sent him.

The second response from Bill then revealed: "The business card read, Platinum Pet Premonitions. That's correct. A pet psychic. Don't judge me. Her website seemed legit, you know, for a pet psychic and appropriate to my desperation level."

Bill explained that he did go see the pet psychic, and if fans wanted to know how it turned out they would have to send another email.

In the final response, Bill revealed he turned to his brother Brian who pointed out the movie star is probably missing his old family pet Peppy who died when he was a child.

Bill's final email concluded: "I never got to say goodbye to Peppy. Until today. What the heck, Super Bowl Sunday. It was Peppy I was seeing in the mirror.

"After all these years, she came back to say goodbye to me ... and to let me say goodbye to her. Maybe she liked me the best of all the kids.

"I suppose we should never be horrified by what we see in the mirror. Or maybe we should never wish to be content with what we see in the mirror.

    "Take care, Bill."
