Adam Scott guarded his children from his fame when they were little

The 52-year-old actor and his wife, film producer Naomi Scott, wanted to protect their 19-year-old son Graham and 16-year-old daughter Frankie from the "idea of having to share" their parents with fans

Adam told 60-year-old actress Kristin Davis on the latest episode of her Are You a Charlotte? podcast: "I always thought that the main thing that I felt like I wanted to sort of - when they were little - protect them from the idea of having to share your parents.

"That I think is the thing where it's a little dicey for them. It's like, 'Well, wait a second. You're my dad or you're my mom. And people are coming up for a picture.'

"I remember that feeling of not wanting my mom to go and talk to other kids or whatever it was."

Sex and the City star Kristin does not take photos with fans when her adoptive children - 14-year-old daughter Gemma Rose and seven-year-old son Wilson - are with her.

She explained: "That's why I try not to. Like if they're there, I just try to have a boundary that I don't take pictures with people.

"I always feel terribly guilty, but I just feel like it's weird."

Adam then said: "When they were little, I did the same thing."

And Kristin shared that Gemma is "cutely protective" of her mom when they are out in public together.

The And Just Like That actress said: "My 14 year old is now hyper-aware.

"Like if we're somewhere and there's a group of young women who have figured me out or whatever, she's like, 'Mom, go.'

    "She's so cutely protected."

However, Adam's children encouraged him to take a picture with his fans.

The Big Little Lies actor said: "My kids did the same thing. And then they got to the point where - because I always said a no of pictures when they were around - they came to a point where they were like, 'Dad, take a picture. They want your picture. Go.'

"And they were like my publicist. But they wanted to see the interaction. They found it interesting."
