Jake Paul has claimed that boxing fans should "want" him to beat Anthony Joshua

The YouTuber-turned-boxer takes on the former heavyweight world champion in Miami on Friday (19.12.25) and thinks fight fans should be rooting for him as a result of the influence he has had on the sport over the past few years.

Paul told reporters: "No one has done more for the sport of boxing in the last decade than myself.

"So if people cared about boxing they would want me to win.

"But I see the angle they're coming from in the sense he's been doing it all his life.

"But I think that I'm more important for boxing so if they cared about the sport they would want me to win."

Paul once again emphasised that victory for him against Joshua would be amongst the biggest upsets in sporting history.

He said: "This is the Giants vs the Patriots 2007. I mean, the list goes on, but the odds are stacked against me.

"There's no sporting teams in history that have gone together where it's this big of a difference in terms of skill, experience, resume, height, weight, etc. So this is going to be the biggest upset in the history of sports and you guys get to witness it."

The absurd nature of the fight has led some observers to question the legitimacy of the bout but Paul insists that the pair will be "going to war" in the ring.

He said: "There's nothing in the contract, AJ can attest to it. We're going to war."
