Deryck Whibley says he's in the best shape of his life - more than a decade after a health crisis that nearly killed him

The Sum 41 frontman revealed that his arteries are now "as clear as a 16 year old's," crediting years of discipline and a complete lifestyle overhaul following his 2014 hospitalisation for severe liver and kidney failure.

In a candid social media update, the 44 year old rocker reflected on how far he's come since the night doctors warned he might not survive.

He wrote: "It's very well documented that 12 years ago I was in really rough shape. In a hospital bed, dying of liver failure... What some people might be surprised by is how well I've managed to turn my life and health around."

Whibley explained that he considers himself "lucky" to have escaped without permanent damage, noting that his body essentially shut down to protect itself. He added that the liver's ability to regenerate played a major role in his recovery.

Now, after years of consistent training, sobriety and a strict wellness routine, the musician says his biological age is almost a decade younger than his real one - and he's aiming to push that even further.

He continued: "As of this year, I'm proud to say... my body is now operating almost eight years younger than my actual age. My arteries are as clear as a 16 year old! In 2026 I plan on tweaking the few things that are holding me back from being a full decade younger inside!"

Whibley stressed that his transformation isn't the result of extreme trends or experimental methods, but simple, steady commitment.

He went on: "I'm not trying to do any 'biohacking,' just practicing healthy discipline and consistency... Point of all this is: anything is f****** possible. Just stay persistent."
