Jesy Nelson has confirmed she and Zion Foster have split, after the "energy wasn't right" between them

The former Little Mix singer has opened up about the pair's recent "traumatic experience", when their eight-month-old twin daughters Ocean and Story were diagnosed with rare genetic condition SMA1 (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) - the most severe form of the progressive muscle-wasting disease - and she and Zion are now determined to give their girls the "most positive, happy and uplifting time and energy".

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the 34-year-old star said: "We have been through such a traumatic experience and for us, our girls are our main priority and our main focus.

"We want to give them the most positive, happy and uplifting time and energy and because we have both been through such a traumatic experience, the energy wasn't right between us, which is understandable.

"We are still friends and we are still united in co-parenting our daughters. They are our main focus, that's all we can do, be the best possible parents we can right now."

Jesy's pregnancy will be documented in her upcoming Prime Video documentary, Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, which is due to drop on February 13.

The singer feels "so proud" of the series, and she hopes it will "raise as much awareness as possible" about what she has been through recently.

She added: "I just think it's crazy how the universe works that the one time I said I'm ready to let the cameras in, that everything since has played out.

"But at the same time, as horrendous and traumatic as it was, I am so incredibly grateful that the cameras were there. During episodes three, four, five and six, that's when you really start to see the access.

"You see my birth; you see everything. But I'm just so proud of it. I am so grateful that my girls are going to see how incredible and strong they are, and I just love that it will hopefully raise as much awareness as possible about the things I have been through."

For now, Jesy is "taking each day as it comes", and admitted her daughters are "doing really well".

She added: "If I try to look too far into the future, I will drive myself crazy.

"The girls are doing really well and they're happy, that's all I can really ask for."

Jesy and Zion stared dating in January 2022, and the pair got engaged in September 2025.

She wrote on Instagram at the time: "Just got engaged to my best friend."

Last month, it was reported the couple had gone their separate ways, but were "fully united in co-parenting" their daughters.

A source told The Sun: "She and Zion remain friends and are fully focused on their daughters.

"They are fully united in co-parenting. Their priority continues to be the well-being of their daughters."
