Josh Duhamel and Fergie split because they were "very different"

The 53-year-old actor has reflected on his 2017 break-up from the chart-topping singer, telling The Skinny Confidential podcast that their conflicting outlooks ultimately led to the end of their marriage.

Josh - who shares 12-year-old son Axl with Fergie - explained: "We're very different ... Fergie and I, we have different views of the world. And that's OK."

Despite their differences, the Transformers star said he has "no regrets" about their time together, and praised his ex's approach to co-parenting.

Josh - who was married to Fergie between 2009 and 2019 - said: "She's a great mom. [She's] very kind, very non-confrontational - thank God - so we have a good relationship."

Josh also revealed that Fergie has a great relationship with Audra Mari, the actor's current wife.

He shared: "She and Audra have a great relationship."

Meanwhile, Josh previously revealed that he built a house in Minnesota so his kids could grow up away from Hollywood.

The actor - who also has Shepherd, two, with Audra - was eager to ensure that his children grew up away from the bright lights of Los Angeles.

Josh told E! News: "You know, 16, 17, years ago, when I built this place, it was weirdly me almost reliving my youth, in a way. Because I grew up out in the woods in North Dakota, and for me to now be able to pass that on to my kids out there is great."

Josh acknowledges that Los Angeles is "fantastic".

However, the actor thinks his kids will ultimately benefit from growing up in a different setting.

The movie star - who married Audra, a former Miss World America winner, in 2022 - explained: "It's also nice to get them out in the woods and get dirty and learn a few things that I learned growing up."
