Police are hopeful the driver in a suspected hit-and-run in Wairarapa will do the right thing and come forward

A 42-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital after being struck on High Street in Carterton just before two yesterday morning.
Police say CCTV footage shows a man, wearing dark clothing and white striped sandals, walking along the west side of the highway before it happened.
Detective senior sergeant Barry Bysouth says police are working hard to build a picture of what happened.
He's keen to speak to anyone who was driving in the area between 1 and 1.45am, saying they could add valuable information to the investigation.
