    The speed of Scott McLaughlin's transition to Indycars has surprised his father


    The three-time Supercars champion is into his fourth full season racing in the United States.

    He has earned pole position at next Monday's Indianapolis 500 after clocking a historical record average speed of 377 kilometres per hour in qualifying.

    McLaughlin's Dad Wayne says his son never lacks motivation.
