Auckland Transport says it's focused on reducing deaths on its roads even further

Auckland Transport says it's focused on reducing deaths on its roads even further

The agency's stats show there were 27 road deaths in the year to July, on the roads they manage.

That's down more than half from the 60 fatalities seen over the previous 12 months.

Transport safety principal lead Ping Sim says their work on safe infrastructure and speed - alongside record levels of road policing - is probably responsible for bringing these figures down.

She says they're committed to everyone getting where they need to go safely.

Sim says Auckland's road harm costs around two-billion-dollars a year.
